Are Your Motion Sensors Smart Enough?

The first types of motion sensors used were the ones that used ultrasound or radio waves or only a simple IR detector. They had no intelligence what so ever and caused lots of false alarms. Squirrels, mice, spiders, or even a fly could set your alarm off.

Now with the modern chips and better sensors, the motion sensor recognizes what moves in front of it, just by looking at the heat pattern of the moving object. If it doesn’t match with one of the patterns in the memory-chip, it won’t activate the alarm. So the modern motion sensor became more intelligent.

So, if you already have an alarm panel, take a close look at your motion sensor, and ask yourself:

“Is this one still reliable, or should I upgrade to the newer models?”
